Pliant Technology names Marty Dipietro Vice President of Operations
Company Taps Technology Manufacturing Operations Veteran to Drive Production Phase of New Enterprise Flash Drives
Milpitas, Calif. – July 9, 2008 – Pliant Technology, developer of a new class of high-performance solid state storage devices for the enterprise, today announced the appointment of Marty DiPietro as vice president of operations. Bringing more than twenty-five years of experience in all aspects of manufacturing operations, DiPietro will be responsible for driving the production phase of Pliant’s new Enterprise Flash Drive (EFD) storage devices.
Available for evaluation later this year, Pliant’s EFDs devices are designed to address the performance limitations of traditional hard drive and solid state storage technologies in data-I/O intensive enterprise computing environments. Pliant’s EFDs, which are based on a new and advanced hardware and software architecture, will deliver breakthrough improvements over today’s highest performing hard drive and SSD solutions, while meeting the growing need for increased energy efficiency and reliability in enterprise computing environments.
In his new role, DiPietro will be responsible for managing overall manufacturing operations, including supply chain management, production, test engineering, and quality control. He will report directly to Mike Chenery, president and co-founder of Pliant Technology.
“Marty is the ideal individual to help Pliant as we begin entering the manufacturing phase for our new EFD devices,” said Chenery. “He has extensive experience driving all aspects of manufacturing operations with an unwavering commitment to quality. In addition, his proven track record in helping start-up technology companies efficiently transition to high-volume production and drive significant revenue growth will be vital as Pliant readies its EFD devices to meet the anticipated market demand ahead.”
Prior to joining Pliant, DiPietro served as vice president of operations at NeoScale Systems, developers of data storage security solutions for enterprise networks, where he helped grow the annual revenue run rate by 300 percent, while simultaneously reducing product costs. Prior to NeoScale, he was vice president of operations at Inkra Networks and at Siera Systems. Following the subsequent merger of Siera Systems with Redback Networks, he continued to drive and expand manufacturing operations to meet increasing market demand for both Siera and Redback product lines. Previously, DiPietro held operations executive and management positions at FreeGate Corporation, NetFrame Systems and Flextronics. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology.
