About
Pliant Technology was formed to address the growing performance gap between data storage and enterprise IT systems.
Today, high-performance enterprise computing systems are increasingly constrained by the limits of traditional hard drive technology that can provide only incremental improvements in transactional performance. As a result, many IT managers have had to increase I/O performance by over-provisioning hard drives, resulting in significantly higher costs, power consumption and failure rates. At the same time, using existing SSD solutions to meet enterprise IT performance requirements also falls short, delivering only marginal performance improvements in little more than re-packaged consumer Flash solid state storage.
The Pliant Enterprise Flash Drive (EFD) solution is designed to meet the growing need in enterprise and high-performance computing environments for dramatically improved storage I/O, energy efficiency, reliability, and TCO. It is based on a new and advanced controller design and software architecture, which is designed to deliver unequalled enterprise performance and reliability while enabling significant cost saving and power reduction compared with today’s best performing hard drives. Pliant’s EFD solution will integrate seamlessly into existing enterprise information systems, and is expected to be available to OEM and data center customers in the fourth quarter of 2008.
